Teeth Restorations That Will Change your Life!
Whether you’ve lost one tooth or are wearing a full set of dentures, the biggest concern you probably have about replacement teeth is how well they’ll work. Dentures slip and fall out of place, and even single tooth replacements like bridges can end up being less functional than you desire. Luckily, advancements in dental technology have led to the premier tooth restoration option available: dental implants!
At Avant Dental, we are proud to be able to offer a wide arrange of dental implant procedures. Whether you just need a single tooth replaced or want to replace your dentures with a permanent new smile, we can do it all.
Why Choose Dental Implants?
Are you tired of feeling embarrassed about the gap in your smile? Do you feel uncomfortable chewing due to your missing tooth? Are you looking for a replacement that looks, feels, and works like a natural tooth?
Not only are implants incredibly stable, long-lasting, and strong, but they also provide plenty of other reasons why they are a great choice!
When you lose teeth, the bone in your jaw that supported them starts to shrink. The sockets recede, and over time the bone gets smaller and smaller. For many people, this results in a sunken-faced look that could easily have been avoided.
Not only does the bone shrink, but as that process continues, it can result in the shifting of your teeth, leading to a domino effect of tooth loss. While dental restorations like bridges can slow the shifting of teeth, they don’t prevent bone loss and eventually can still result in the same troubles.
Dental implants are able to stop bone loss by replacing the lost roots of your teeth. This means that bone won’t shrink, and you’ll be saving the rest of your teeth as well! By providing a lasting, positive result, dental implants can improve your self-esteem and confidence in your smile and your oral health.
What Is a Dental Implant?
Dental implants are small titanium screws that are about the size of the roots of your natural teeth. The dental implant is placed in your jaw and fills the role of your missing root. Implants are threaded on the inside and outside, so once your implant is placed, we are able to finish it with a variety of dental restorations.
Dental implants act a lot like any other permanent surgical material – they integrate with your bone to create an incredibly strong and permanent bond. Just like screws used in other surgeries, titanium is the material of choice due to its excellent ability to integrate with bone.
Who is a Good Candidate for Dental Implants?
Dental implants are a good option for anyone in good health. In order to place the implant, you must have healthy gums and enough bone below the implant to support it. If either of these are an issue for you, there is a way to treat either of these conditions first before placing an implant.
Bone Grafts for Dental Implants
A bone graft may be performed for patients without enough bone to do an implant. This is when new bone is added to your jawbone so that there’s enough to support the implant.
When you come in for a consultation, we will arrange for you to have a CT Scan and determine if you need a bone graft prior to having an implant placed.
Dental Implant Options
We offer a wide variety of implant services, each designed to address a specific need.
Standard implants are simply a replacement for one tooth. Your implant is placed, and once healed, it is completed with a crown. If you come to our Winnipeg Square location, we can even make the crown while you wait using our CEREC milling machine.
Implant-supported bridges are for patients missing more than one tooth. These permanent restorations are made using one or more implants that support a bridge that stays in your mouth for good – no more partial dentures.
All-on-4 and All-on-6 solutions are permanent, full-mouth restorations. We’ll work with a specialist to ensure the perfect set of restorations for you. These permanently fixed bridges replace all of your teeth and will amaze you with the stability and life change they create for you. You can say goodbye to your old dentures and embrace a new set of teeth that will have you eating all of your favourite foods.
Implant-supported and implant-retained dentures are a way to get greater support from the dentures you already have. We’ll use a series of implants with either a bar and clasp or ball-and-socket system that you simply snap your dentures onto. You can still remove them at night, but during the day you’ll have an amazing level of stability and function. We can even modify your current dentures to be used this way.
If you’ve lost one or more teeth, don’t spend your time looking for a quick fix – dental implants can give you back the eating ability you never thought would return! Call one of our three Winnipeg area locations today, or schedule an appointment using our online form.
How Painful is it to get a Dental Implant?
Many do not experience any pain at all throughout the process. Most people are able to work the next day after each step in the treatment process. If you do experience pain, we are happy to provide adequate pain medication. We are also available for quick follow-up appointments if you’re feeling any unexpected discomfort during the recovery process. We want you to be as comfortable as possible!
One of the biggest benefits of dental implants is that, in most cases, they prevent future pain and complications. Dental implants are a permanent solution that allow you to turn back the clock on your teeth. They’re just like having your real, healthy teeth back.
Dental Implant Procedure
Ready to get started and get your old smile back? Dental implants can typically be completed in 5 simple stages.
Dental Implant Consultation: Call us to book your free, initial consultation. At this appointment, you’ll meet with one of our amazing dental implant dentists. They’ll assess your particular situation and go through all of your treatment options. At this point, we can also help you arrange a CT Scan to ensure there’s enough bone to place a dental implant. Don’t worry if there isn’t, because our dentists can also perform a bone graft or propose alternate treatment options if not.
At your consultation, you can also meet with our patient coordinator to discuss payment plan options. Click here to read more about the financing options we provide.
Treatment Plan Creation: Once the dentist has your CT Scan results, they can create a custom treatment plan for you. This includes cost, timeline, and expected results. We will have you back in to review this plan and come up with a date to move forward with the treatment. We can also help you finalize payment options at this point.
Implant placement/First Treatment Appointment: Your first treatment appointment will be the implant placement, unless you need to have a tooth extracted or have a bone graft done first. Depending on your treatment plan and the number of implants needed, the dentist may decide to do this step in stages. This will be clearly outlined in your treatment plan.
Check-In Appointments and Crown Placement: After each implant placement appointment, our team will follow-up with you to ensure that you are healing properly. Typically you can expect crown placement to be about 12 weeks after the implant is placed as long as everything has healed properly.
Regular Dental Appointments: Once your crown is placed, your dental implant treatment is complete. At this point, you’ll just need to come in for periodic checkups and cleanings. We know that this is an investment in your health and we want to make sure it’s well protected!
